Today, the ACS Foundation launched a new scholarship to support women as they approach studying technology degrees at university. The Women of STEM scholarship program's goal is to advance STEM opportunities for women. While girls are increasingly participating in Big Day In events, this scholarship will further attract and support young women to STEM careers.
At today's Newcastle Big Day In event, 500 students from dozens of Hunter high schools were the first to hear about the new scholarship. Many companies including Mudbath, Australian Defence, nib, Galah Cyber, Wisetech, Microsoft, Tata and Westpac also shared their STEM experiences with students.
Applications for the Women of STEM scholarship are open to year 12 students as soon as they commence their university application. The 2023 Women of STEM Scholarship will be awarded exclusively to young women aged 18-20 once they commence their technology degree.
The Women of STEM Scholarship will be a national program that provides women with $5,000 financial grants per year for the life of their degree program. The scholarship is funded by corporate and individual IT professionals and administered by the ACS Foundation.
Applications for the 2023 Women of STEM Scholarship are now open and are available for women studying STEM in both metropolitan and regional areas. If you qualify, or know someone who will qualify, please encourage them to apply.
If your IT business would also like to help build the reach of the Women of STEM Scholarship, we also invite sponsorship enquiries from interested parties. All scholarship donations are tax deductible.
The ACS Foundation look forward to seeing more young Australian women take advantage of the amazing opportunities that a career in technology offers.
